Review of Food Bazar, Beckton (Visited on 19th August 2024)

I had a good impression of Mr. Aklu, the owner of Food Bazar, especially remembering his past efforts on social media where he spoke out against dodgy Qurbani practices. Though it’s unfortunate he was later pressured to apologize by certain groups, I believed him to be a person of integrity. However, after my recent visit to the Food Bazar at Beckton, I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope that it catches his attention and prompts some necessary changes.

During my visit, I purchased three boxes of Egyptian Fazle mangoes for £25. This was a grave mistake. The mangoes were completely not ready to eat, with black marks throughout. We had assumed the quality would be similar to the delicious Bangladeshi mangoes, but unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed. It’s disheartening to realize that the store is aware of the quality of the fruits they sell and yet continues to deceive customers.

I also noticed that all the lychee boxes on display were covered in mold. It’s concerning that such a dangerous health hazard is being sold to unsuspecting customers. Mold can have serious health implications, especially for those who are not aware of its dangers.

There were also vegetable packs being offered at 20 pence, reduced from the original price of £1. However, these vegetables were clearly past their prime and not suitable for consumption. It's unacceptable to sell inedible produce, even at a discounted price.

On a positive note, there were some vegetables on offer, like snake gourd, bitter gourd, jali, Bangla kodu, and raw pumpkin at £1.99 per kg, which seemed like a good deal. However, upon closer inspection, I found that the Bangla kodu and snake gourd were already rotten but still on display. This suggests a lack of proper quality control in the store.

Overall, my visit to Food Bazar was quite disappointing. I urge the management to address these issues promptly and ensure that only fresh, quality products are sold. I believe Mr. Aklu, with his previously demonstrated commitment to customer welfare, would want to take action if he were made aware of these issues.

See the differences between Kacha Bazar Extra – Beckton Branch and food bazar beckton. Same owner. Same food but price !?
If you compare their price with other shops price you can find huge differences . They sell products high price then other Bengali shop.

I was a bit reluctant to come here because of distance and some negative reviews. However, after visiting the store today ( Saturday ) I would say it is the better than any other Bangladeshi grocery store I’ve seen so far in terms of space, variety, availability, quality and price of products. Nothing is perfect in all aspects but realistically it met my expectations in most aspects. Plenty of parking spaces even in weekends. Staffs were helpful and trying to serve as quickly as possible. Quick check out in the till. Becton retail park has other popular brands stores as well. So worth going there if want to get monthly shopping in one go. Hope to visit again.

This very lovely place to buy everything like back home stuff. Service is good and you have 2 hours free parking . You will get everything under one roof. They have WC facilities and also prayer facilities. A big thank you to Food Bangla Bazar
